How Do I Subscribe?

Subscribing is easy following these steps:

NOTE:  The Tex. Dept. of Public Safety changed the CHL-100 form in response to passage of HB910 in 2015.  Accordingly, some pages shown in  the How Do I Subscribe video appear differently than the updated form used to subscribe.  The changes are minimal and easily understood on  the form.

Subscribing to CHLregistration.com only takes a few minutes and you can save time by watching the video “I’m Sold!  How do I subscribe?” that explains the process and the information you will need to complete the online registration form.  You will provide all of the information necessary for us to include you in our system and create the customized Excel spreadsheet that will work with our online system to automate creation of CHL-100’s and CHL-8’s for all of your students in all of your classes.  This only takes a few minutes if you watch the video first and have the required information ready when you log into the subscription page.

When you are ready to subscribe, just click on the “Subscribe” button in the main menu and you will be redirected from the demo site to the secure “live” site where you will have to log in again using the demo login Username: instructor and demo Password: chldemo.  When you have logged in, you will be taken directly to the subscription page where you will select either a Monthly Subscription or the Annual Subscription.  These are multi-page forms, but don’t be discouraged, they are short pages and you will be providing much information simply by selecting from a dropdown list. 

If you chose the Annual subscription, you will be taken to our PayPal site where you will pay for the subscription using a credit card of your choice.  It is not necessary for you to have a PayPal account.  If you have selected Monthly Subscription, it is necessary for you to have a PayPal account in order to set up the monthly subscription payment. 

Once your subscription form is submitted and the fee has been paid, we will set up your account and  customize an Excel spreadsheet for you.  We will then send you an email notification that you are in our system and can start booking classes.  The customized Excel spreadsheet will be attached to that email as well.

FAQ's

  • How Do Students Register? +

    Your students can register for your classes either by clicking on a link on your website that takes them directly to your schedule of classes, or they can register by going to CHLregistration.com.

  • Will CHLregistration.com have advertisements from other instructors? +

    No.   We are here to serve our CHL Instructors, not advertise for their competitors.  CHLregistration.com will never accept any advertisements from instructors or shooting ranges that offer CHL classes.

  • What if I don’t have a PayPal account for my site? +

    It is not necessary to have a PayPal account to use our service.  It’s your decision whether you want to have your students pay a deposit or the full class fee at the time they register.  Pre-payment of class fees or requiring a deposit is popular with many instructors. Setting up a PayPal account is very easy and PayPal technical support is happy to help.  NOTE:  If you select the monthly subscription, you will need to have or set up a PayPal account.  However, you will not have to use it for anything other than your monthly subscription payments if you choose not to require or allow your students to pay by credit card.

  • Do I need a PayPal account to subscribe to CHLregistration.com? +

    It depends upon the subscription you choose.  Although we use PayPal as our payment gateway, you can pay by credit card on our PayPal site without having your own PayPal account if you choose the 12 month pre-paid subscription.  If you prefer the monthly subscription, then you will need a PayPal account to pay by credit card.  You can use it only for the monthly subscription payment that will be charged to your credit card, or you can use it for student payments as well.  The choice is yours.

  • Will PayPal charge me a fee when students register? +

    Yes.  Every payment gateway charges a fee.  Fees vary depending upon the merchant account you choose.  Most instructors use the Standard PayPal merchant account that does not have a monthly fee and each transaction carries a fee.  For example, at the lowest volume, PayPal charges 2.9% of the class fee plus $0.30.  (These figures are as of May 28, 2012 and are subject to change.  Check www.PayPal.com for current information.)  Remember, you have the option to require pre-payment or allow people to pay-at-the-door.

  • Does CHLregistration charge a set-up fee for new customers? +

    No.  There is no longer a a one-time $25 fee for setting up an instructor in our system.

  • How do I schedule a class? +

    When you subscribe to our service, we will set up one or more classes with the information you provide.  The easiest way to add additional classes is to fill out the online "Class Set-Up Request" form and we will set up your classes.  If you prefer, you can create your own classes by logging onto our site and entering the required data. 

  • I don’t know how to use a CSV file, can you help? +

    Of course!  We will always be available to help our instructors.  We will have online videos explaining the simple process for using the CSV file and we will have periodic webinars using Go-To-Meeting.

  • I don’t have a website, can I still use CHLregistration.com? +

    Yes.  You will need Internet access to use our services, but you do not need your own website.  Your students will register by going directly to CHLregistration.com, rather than clicking on a direct link on your website.
